SUMMARY:Knowledge and Reductionism
DESCRIPTION:Seminar organized by Paolo De Santis \n  \nScience seems to have failed its mission to search for knowledge and\, in particular\, the natural sciences seem to have been divided in different specialist fields that have been transformed into efficient producers of static patterns of knowledge capable\, nevertheless\, of generating useful and celebrated paradigms for technological applications. The effects of such compartmentalization of knowledge are visible in the proliferation of “citadels of power”\, populated by mono-dimensional specialists\, which not only tend to be self-referential but also turn out to be incapable to generate dynamic innovations. This whole system seems to work perfectly for military and economic powers\, which have become increasingly centralized\, that so heavily can influence the choices of scientific research groups\, both in academia and beyond . \n  \nSo\, if on the one hand we are witnessing the apparently limitless progress of the technology that daily and incessantly we are offered\, on the other hand we cannot but acknowledge that science does not seem to care of and cannot yet explain a large amount of phenomena – paradoxes\, even among those who fall before our eyes every day. To better phrase it\, what is actually unable to expose the above mentioned paradoxes is the mainstream science\, which continues its journey on approved and homologated tracks preventing itself from exploring new paths. In this perspective\, there is\, however\, a relatively small heretical scientific community\, capable of approaching larger nodes of knowledge producing new visions of nature. Such visions have been claiming to be admitted to the honors of official Science for long\, but are systematically obscured and almost always ridiculed when trying to peek out with the support of the lords of information. \n
